Weingut Hiedler "Urgestein" Riesling 2009
Hiedler farms ecologically with very little use of sprays. He is gradually moving towards organic. Everything is done Mother Nature's way using only natural yeast & hand harvesting & sorting. Gentleness in the entire winemaking process. The winery's goal is always to produce good texture & good extraction to give the wine lots of personality. This is a family estate. Maria and Ludwig work 16 hectares of vines, producing on average 8,300 cases of wines, almost half of it GrĂ¼ner Veltliner. The harvest at Hiedler is performed by hand, in several passes to select only optimally-ripe and undamaged fruit. Fermentation is temperature-controlled, and the wine is aged partly in stainless steel and partly in acacia casks.
