Gabbiano "Alleanza" Toscana Rosso 2007
Castello di Gabbiano, built in 1124, has been the home and refuge of distinguished Florentine families during some of the most famous intrigues and events in Tuscan history. The estate is situated in the prestigious commune of San Casciano, Val di Pesa in the Chianti Classico area. This 173-acre estate is planted with vineyards and olive groves that blend harmoniously into the classic Tuscan landscape. Just over 65 acres of property are dedicated to growing Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes used for producing the estate's exceptional quality Chianti Classico Riserva and Super Tuscan Bellezza. The remaining vineyard acreage is planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that is used with the native Sangiovese to create the superb Super Tuscan - Alleanza.
Today the estate has continued replanting the older vineyard blocks while expanding its 12th century cellars. These modifications have allowed winemaker, Giancarlo Roman, to continue to raise the quality of Castello di Gabbiano wines to the world-class level. Based in the Chianti Classico region of Italy, Gabbiano Chiantis have DOCG classification. The full Castello di Gabbiano portfolio comprises a core range of still Italian wines including a Rose, Pinot Grigio, Chianti, Chianti Classico, Classico Riserva, two Super Tuscan wines (Alleanza and Bellezza), plus the latest release Gabbiano Asti.
